Job description
|
The Data Management team is the central hub for expertise and best practices related to managing and overseeing the development of data assets, ensuring safe, responsible, and implementation across all data, AI and GenAI initiatives within AXA Japan.
The role focuses implementation and execution of technical data management policies and practices across all environments, entities, data layers.
The role also covers data modelling, which is a critical component of data management, providing well-designed data foundations, ensuring that data structures are well-organized, efficient, scalable, and aligned with the needs of the organization.

Key Accountabilities
Data Governance & Risk Management
-Translate Compliance and Security guidelines into actionable data management frameworks and processes
-Act as first line of defense for data risk management and data life cycle monitoring
-Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, group policies, including 2nd/3rd line reporting
-Design and enforce data classification and retention policies
-Supervise data privacy measures including anonymization and pseudonymization
-Establish and maintain data quality control framework
Access control & Security
-Design and implement data access and privilege control processes
-Enforce segregation of duties across data platform
-Manage environment-specific access permissions (Production/Sandbox/Pre-Production/Non-Production)
-Monitor and audit data access patterns
-Implement least privilege access principles
Data architecture & modeling
-Support the definition and governance of data modeling standards and best practices
-Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models of source systems and core/analytical data products
-Implement Data vault - design hub entities and satellite tables based on source systems core data models
-Enforce naming conventions and design patterns, ensuring consistency across the data warehouse architecture and data layering
-Create and maintain modeling guidelines and documentation
-Define business/Information vault transformations
Data discovery & documentation
-Maintain comprehensive data catalog and metadata repository
-Document data lineage across medallion architecture
-Create and maintain data dictionaries and business glossaries
-Establish documentation standards for data assets
Stakeholder collaboration
-Collaborate with Compliance and Security to convert rules and guidelines into actionable data management frameworks and processes
-Collaborate with Data Analysts to collect analytical requirements to define core data product
-Collaborate with Data Scientists to enrich analytical requirements using unstructured data extraction techniques
-Collaborate with Data Scientists to understand ML/Al use cases that can leverage core data product data
-With Data Engineering, partner with application teams on source system integration and core data model definition

Job qualification
|
Technical requirements
-Experience with Big Data platforms governance and management
-Familiarity with Databricks Unity Catalog and AWS with fine-grained access control management
-Proficiency in metadata management tools (Talend Meta Data Management, Colibra, Unity Catalog)
-Familiarity with data modeling standards and methodologies (Data Vault, Dimensional Modeling)
-Proficiency in database languages like SQL, understanding of data warehousing and ETL processes
-Proficiency in Databricks and DBT a plus
-Experience as practitioner of data as data analyst, data scientist, data engineer, actuary
-Domain expertise in insurance or finance
Technical and professional skills:
-Strong scientific education in computer science, information technology, mathematics, or related fields
-Strong technical foundation in database design, programming, and system analysis
-Knowledge of data modeling tools and languages, such as ER/Studio, SAP PowerDesigner, or Unified Modeling Language (UML)
-At least 8 years (5 years or more of relevant experience)
-Strong understanding of data management and data life cycle
-Strong understanding of Risk Management, Data Governance, and data-related regulations
-Experience in following fields a definitive plus: Risk Management, Audit, Compliance, Security
